I make things - mostly out of wood - but also using metal, glass, plastic, and electrical components like LED lights, quartz clock movements, and small motors. Most of these things are functional, but some aren't.
East Asian architecture and furniture, Industrial Age inventions, the Arts and Crafts Movement, Art Deco designs, Depression-era clocks, Mid-century home furnishings, and Minimalism are some of the influences that inform my work. And, like many woodworkers, I am inspired by the unique creative visions of artists like George Nakashima, and James Krenov.
I work out of a small shop in the Longfellow neighborhood of Minneapolis right by the Mississippi River and use both power and hand tools.
I am continuously learning, tinkering, and making improvements to our shop and regularly document this activity in the blog, taocraft shop notes.
Some of my work is for sale either here on this site, or on Etsy.
